Cairo - Saba: Egyptian press reports revealed a shocking surprise regarding Ahmed Sayed "Zizo," who recently joined Al Ahly on a free transfer after his contract with Zamalek expired during the current summer transfer window. According to sports journalist Akram Konur, who specializes in transfer market news, via his account on the "X" platform on Saturday, "Zizo was offered to the Turkish clubs Besiktas and Fenerbahçe, but neither club has announced its interest yet." 2026 World Cup African Qualifiers: Egypt, Morocco Strengthen Lead in their Groups
Rabat - Saba: The Egyptian national team achieved an easy victory over Ethiopia, 2-0, in the match held at the Arab Zaouili Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco, as part of the fifth round of Group A of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. Mohamed Salah scored in the 31st minute and Ahmed Sayed "Zizo" scored in the 40th minute. Egypt's tally now stands at 13 points, five points ahead of its closest competitors, Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso, while Ethiopia's tally remains at three points, in second-to-last place. Morocco also defeated Niger 2-1 on Friday evening in the fourth round of Group E of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Niger took the lead through Youssef Oumarou in the 47th minute, before Ismail Saibari equalized for Morocco in the 59th minute. Bilal El Khannouss scored Morocco's second goal in the first minute of stoppage time in the second half, securing the three points. Morocco now sits in first place with 12 points, six points ahead of Niger and Tanzania, who are in second and third place. Zambia occupies fourth and last place in the four-team group with three points, following Congo Brazzaville's suspension by FIFA and the withdrawal of Eritrea.
